CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Town of Monterey, Massachusetts
                                                                        
MEETING DATE: June 24, 2008
Present: Richard Andrus, Timothy Lovett, Christopher Blair and David Dempsey
The meeting convened at 6:55p.m.

Horowitz, 23 Mt Hunger Estates, Request for Certificate of Compliance (C. Blair is the project manager)
Attorney Stefan Grotz was present to review the file with the Board.  The Board reviewed the as-built that was requested at the June 9th meeting and C. Blair reported his observations made while performing a site visit on June 8th.  The Board approved issuing a Complete Certificate of Compliance.

Nault, 45 NE Cove Rd, Request for Certificate of Compliance (J. Bach is the project manager)
David Dempsey reported on his site visit observations and that everything seems to be in order.  The Board approved issuing a Complete Certificate of Compliance.

Brenner, 42 Elephant Rock Rd, Request for Certificate of Compliance (J. Bach is the project manager)
Rick Andrus reported on his site visit observations and that everything seems to be in order.  The Board approved issuing a Complete Certificate of Compliance.

For Discussion:
1.      Mail was reviewed.
2.      Minutes from 6.9.08 were approved as written.
3.      The Board discussed a few issues on Point Rd (Fried/Greenwald home and the Brown home).  The Commission is going to write letters to the owners of the properties/projects in question.
4.      The Board discussed an issue on Lake Garfield with a property owner that has put up fencing in the water (which is not allowed) and has put wire mesh on the split rail fencing on the bank (which is also not allowed).  A letter will be sent to the owner (Richard Jaffe) and the Harbormaster (as the Harbormaster holds jurisdiction on violations in the water).
5.      Tim Lovett was unable to be the Project Manager for the SMA-RDA he received due to a conflict of interest; Dave Dempsey offered to replace him.
6.      The Board reviewed a written request from Hy & Myrna Rosen to remove a tree that has a hollow trunk that is within the buffer zone of Lake Garfield.
7.      The Board reviewed Mr. Smalls request to rebuild his wooden dock on Lake Garfield.  A letter will be sent to Mr. Small.
